Frequently asked questions
My water heater is a "chauffe-eau" or "cumulus" — what's the difference?
Chauffe-eau is the general French word for water heater. A cumulus is the common electric tank version found in most Paris apartments, usually in the bathroom or a closet. Gas heaters (chauffe-eau gaz or a chaudière boiler) also exist. Tell us which one you have — a photo is enough — and we send the right specialist.
Repair or replace?
If the tank itself leaks, replacement is the only option. If it's the heating element, thermostat or safety valve, a repair is usually cheaper and quick. We give you an honest recommendation and a price for both options before any work starts.
Should my landlord pay for this?
In a French rental, the landlord pays when the water heater fails from age or wear, which is the usual case. The tenant covers basic upkeep only. We give you an invoice and a short diagnosis you can forward to your landlord or agency in English and French.
How fast can you restore my hot water?
Repairs are often done the same day. If a replacement is needed, we can usually install a new unit within 24 to 48 hours depending on the model.
